I found the wood for this piece about 2 years ago, its a great piece with lots of vertical stripes in 2 tones of oak, its sat there waiting to speak to me about what it wanted, and finally told me. This is the first big expansion in complexity for LED lighting, and the lighting technology has moved on as well. App controlled color

Islands in the Stream - Vol 1

“Islands” extends the exploration in the later Pangea work, with increased focus on profile, (the islands are lifted off the epoxy base, and epoxy color and texture blending.

The overall effect is meany to simulate islands in the middle of a swirling.

I’ve been thinking about this piece for over a year, how to show money’s interaction with nature. the piece uses current and disused notes and coins, from a 1 US cent piece, right up to a 500,000,000 Zimbabwe dollar bill.

Some of my creative ideas, I am slightly scared of taking on because they may not meet the ideal I have in my head, this piece, when I finally overcame that fear, has turned out every bit as well as I hoped.

The Explosion is another expression of the blown fractal burning concept, radiating out from the focal point. It is fractally burned Sande wood on an aluminum base with a grey/blue epoxy infill.

The Bay - Volume 1

The Bay is my first multi perspective piece, from a distance it is an imaginary bay from a great height, up close it is much more tactile and smaller scale. Using a more complex blend of materials than I have used before with factally burnt wood, white sand, blended colors of epoxy and small sea shells from Morro Bay in California.
